Alejandro Osuna kept the Rangers' two-out rally moving when Texas needed a third consecutive RBI double. The designated hitter went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored Saturday at Target Field, part of a 6-2 win over the Minnesota Twins that left the AL West undecided entering Sunday.
The Associated Press listed Osuna among the three straight RBI doubles that followed Danny Jansen's two-out single in the second. Per the CBS Sports box score, Osuna finished 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and one run before Justin Foscue pinch-hit for him in the eighth. Texas moved to 80-81. Minnesota dropped to 76-85.
Second-inning double makes it 3-1
After Nicky Lopez's two-out double, Jansen's RBI single and Evan Carter's RBI double had tied the game and then put Texas ahead, Osuna doubled to right and scored Carter for a 3-1 lead. Brandon Nimmo's RBI double scored Osuna and completed a four-run inning against Bailey Ober (7-7).
Osuna later singled in the fourth, reaching base ahead of Nimmo's groundout that moved him into scoring position before Wyatt Langford struck out.
His night sat inside the bottom-of-the-order surge the AP highlighted: the bottom three starters went 6-for-11 with four RBIs and four runs. Osuna supplied two of those hits and the run that Nimmo drove in to make it 4-1.
Homers after the rally
Jansen's leadoff homer in the fourth and Jake Burger's team-leading 28th in the fifth stretched the lead to 6-1. Osuna was already 2-for-2 by then. Nathan Eovaldi, making his first start since Aug. 7, allowed one run over 4 1/3 innings; Robert Garcia (2-1) earned the win with 1 2/3 scoreless frames after a rain delay of 2 hours, 1 minute had pushed the start.
