The 16 teams that will play League of Legends' world championship in Allen are now known, and so are their first opponents.
The Swiss Stage of Worlds 2026 begins Friday, Oct. 23, at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center and runs through Oct. 31, according to Dot Esports. The draw for the opening round took place right after the final Play-In match in Los Angeles.
That match sent French team Karmine Corp through. It swept Vietnam's MVK Esports 3-0 to claim the last Swiss Stage place, its first ever, Esports Insider reported. North America's Cloud9 did not advance from the Play-In.
Round one
Friday's opening round is eight best-of-one games:
- Gen.G (LCK No. 1) vs. Invictus Gaming (LPL No. 4)
- Team Liquid (LCS No. 1) vs. CTBC Flying Oyster (LCP No. 2)
- Anyone's Legend (LPL No. 1) vs. Karmine Corp (LEC No. 3)
- G2 Esports (LEC No. 1) vs. Dplus KIA (LCK No. 4)
- Hanwha Life Esports (LCK No. 2) vs. Top Esports (LPL No. 3)
- LOS (CBLOL No. 1) vs. T1 (LCK No. 3)
- Team Secret Whales (LCP No. 1) vs. LYON (LCS No. 2)
- Bilibili Gaming (LPL No. 2) vs. Movistar KOI (LEC No. 2)
Teams from the same league were kept apart in the first round, which is why pairings such as Gen.G against Dplus KIA or G2 against Karmine Corp were not possible. T1 is the defending world champion, and Dot Esports calls Gen.G the favorite to win the title.
