Motorola Solutions announced the opening of a new artificial intelligence and resilience software hub in Boston, Massachusetts, on May 21, 2026. The facility functions as a primary research and development site for the company, focusing on mission-critical, cloud-based technologies designed to support emergency coordination. These systems aim to facilitate collaboration between private enterprises and first responders during complex incidents.
The company noted that thousands of K-12 schools and higher education institutions currently utilize this platform to manage security challenges with speed and clarity. The new Boston location is intended to accelerate the creation of purposeful, mission-ready technologies that bridge the gap between data analysis and actionable intelligence for those handling societal security issues.
Mahesh Saptharishi, executive vice president and chief technology officer at Motorola Solutions, described the hub as a critical intersection between AI technology and real-world necessity. He stated that the facility focuses on delivering actionable intelligence rather than merely developing algorithms, with the goal of better protecting critical enterprises and communities.
Saptharishi emphasized that deepening expertise in Boston allows the company to more effectively translate complex data streams into meaningful action.
Jehan Wickramasuriya, senior vice president of security and resilience software, highlighted Boston’s reputation for innovation as a key factor in selecting the location. He described the problems addressed by the hub as challenging and rewarding, noting that the city provides an ideal environment for deploying agentic systems capable of managing real-world emergencies at scale.
Motorola Solutions has maintained a presence in Massachusetts for decades, supporting public safety agencies and enterprises in the region. The new hub will create roles across AI research, software engineering, and product management. The company indicated that individuals interested in these positions can view open listings on its careers page.
