Neto Delivers Dominant Offensive Performance

Neto was the catalyst for the Los Angeles Angels’ offensive explosion, going 5-for-6 with two home runs and five runs batted in. His power display helped lift the visiting Angels to an 18-3 victory over the Houston Astros at Daikin Park on Friday.

Neto’s first major contribution came in the fourth inning when he singled to left field, driving in Frazier. He later added a three-run homer to center field in the fifth inning, extending the lead significantly. Neto capped his night with another double in the seventh inning, scoring two more runs.

His performance included a 428-foot home run and multiple hits that kept the Astros’ pitchers off balance throughout the game.

Scoring Sequences Define the Contest

The Angels established early control in the first inning. Neto’s single to right field scored Meckler to give Los Angeles a 1-0 lead. The Astros answered with a run of their own, but wild pitches by Angels pitcher Grayson Rodriguez allowed Alvarez to score twice, making it 1-2.

Los Angeles took a 2-1 lead in the second inning on a Grissom single and a sacrifice bunt by Heineman. The Angels’ offense continued to pile on runs. A controversial play in the second inning saw Frazier’s ground ball initially ruled an out, but a successful challenge overturned the call, allowing Lowe to score.

Another run came in the fourth inning when Frazier doubled and scored.

The fourth inning proved decisive for the Angels. After Neto’s single, Ballesteros singled to left, scoring two runs. Grissom then doubled to left, adding two more. The Angels broke the game open further in the fifth with a fielder’s choice that scored Heineman, followed immediately by Neto’s three-run homer.

The scoring continued into the later innings. In the seventh, Neto’s double allowed two more runs to cross the plate. The final runs came in the ninth inning when Guzman hit a 363-foot home run to left, and Smith’s sacrifice fly added an insurance run for Houston.

Pitching Decisions Shape the Outcome

Grayson Rodriguez earned the win for Los Angeles, pitching seven scoreless innings. He allowed five hits and two walks while striking out six batters. His performance was crucial in keeping the Astros’ offense in check during his time on the mound.

The Astros struggled to contain the Angels’ hitters. Peter Lambert took the loss after pitching 3.2 innings, allowing nine runs on eight hits. Bryan King pitched 1.1 innings and allowed five runs on five hits. Tatsuya Imai pitched three innings, giving up two runs, while LaMonte Wade Jr. pitched one inning with two runs allowed.

Blake Weiman closed out the game for the Angels, pitching two innings and allowing one earned run on three hits with three strikeouts.

Final Results and Records

The final score of 18-3 reflected the Angels’ complete offensive dominance. The victory improved the Los Angeles Angels’ record to 51-77. The loss dropped the Houston Astros to 64-64. The game was played in front of 20,934 fans at Daikin Park.
