Kirk gives Toronto the first run
Kirk supplied the early swing, homering to left center 373 feet in the top of the second inning, and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Houston Astros 3-1 on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Daikin Park in Houston.
The homer put Toronto ahead 1-0 and was the only home run of the game. Toronto, the away team, added enough in the fourth inning to keep the lead the rest of the way.
Toronto adds on in the fourth
The Blue Jays extended the margin in the top of the fourth. Sánchez singled to left, and Okamoto scored on a throwing error by left fielder Trammell. On the play, Sánchez was safe at second and Springer was safe at third on the error, giving Toronto a 2-0 lead.
Clement followed with a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Springer for a 3-0 Blue Jays advantage. Those were Toronto’s final runs, but they were enough.
Houston got on the board in the bottom of the sixth. Peña singled to center, scoring Diaz, with Peña reaching second and Smith moving to third. The play cut Toronto’s lead to 3-1, which became the final score.
