Clement changes the final line
The final line was Toronto Blue Jays 5, Houston Astros 4 at Daikin Park on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, after Clement hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning.
Clement’s drive to left traveled 391 feet and scored Urías, moving Toronto from a 3-3 tie to a 5-3 lead in the top of the inning. It was one of three home runs in the game.
Houston answered in the bottom of the 10th when Alvarez singled to right and Peña scored. Alvarez was out stretching at second, and after a Houston Astros challenge, the call on the field was upheld.
Houston strikes first
The Astros built their offense in the bottom of the third. Altuve opened the scoring with a 401-foot homer to left for a 1-0 Houston lead.
Walker followed later in the inning with a double to left that scored Varsho, and Wade Jr. singled to center to bring in Walker. That sequence gave Houston a 3-0 advantage.
Jameson Taillon pitched 4.0 innings for Toronto, allowing six hits, three earned runs and two walks with four strikeouts. Hunter Brown worked 6.0 innings for Houston, giving up three hits, three earned runs and two walks while striking out eight.
Toronto pulls even
Toronto tied the game in the top of the sixth. Okamoto singled to center to score Straw, cutting Houston’s lead to 3-1. Sánchez followed with a 398-foot homer to right, scoring Okamoto and making it 3-3.
Spencer Miles pitched 2.0 innings for Toronto, allowing two hits with no earned runs, no walks and two strikeouts. Mason Fluharty added 1.0 inning with no hits, no earned runs, no walks and two strikeouts. Tyler Rogers allowed one hit in 1.0 inning with no earned runs and no walks.
For Houston, Steven Okert, Bryan Abreu and Josh Hader each pitched 1.0 inning with no hits and no earned runs. Okert struck out one, Abreu struck out two and Hader struck out one.
Decisions and records
Louis Varland earned the win for Toronto, improving to 4-4 after 1.0 inning with no hits, no earned runs, no walks and one strikeout. Chase Lee recorded his first save, allowing one hit with no earned runs and no walks in 1.0 inning.
Bennett Sousa took the loss for Houston, falling to 0-1 after allowing two hits and one earned run in 1.0 inning with no walks and one strikeout.
The announced attendance was 27,751. Houston fell to 59-57, and Toronto improved to 54-61.
