The MaxPreps Game of the Week returns to Texas on Friday, August 28, featuring a contest between the No. 10 Duncanville football team and the No. 18 ranked Allen squad. The game will take place at Allen High School, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. Central Time.
This selection follows the season premiere of the MaxPreps Game of the Week series, which occurred on August 21 between the top-ranked St. John Bosco from Bellflower, California, and the second-ranked Bishop Gorman from Las Vegas, Nevada. The Duncanville-Allen matchup highlights two programs with deep histories in Texas high school athletics.
Since 1998, the schools have combined to win eight state championships and have appeared in the MaxPreps Top 25 rankings ten times over the last decade.
The rivalry carries recent momentum for Duncanville, which defeated Allen 31-9 in the Conference 6A Division 1 state semifinals during the previous season. Both teams are recognized for their championship expectations and strong fan bases, according to MaxPreps leadership.
MaxPreps Director of Content Steve Montoya noted that Texas has long established a standard for high school football and that this specific matchup generates significant excitement. He described the game as an ideal example of the type of contest the Game of the Week program aims to showcase, citing the elite talent and passionate support surrounding both schools.
