Baylor has entered the recruitment of Bear Acy, a five-star basketball prospect in the 2029 class who holds the No. 7 spot in national rankings, according to SI.com. Acy has not reported a decision, and the offer is not described as his only opportunity. More schools are expected to offer the highly ranked player.
Acy, who is 6-foot-7, is described as having the frame to make an impact at both ends of the floor. His reported skills include protecting the rim, interrupting passing lanes, and producing blocked shots and deflections.
His father, Quincy Acy, played forward for Baylor from 2008 to 2012. Quincy Acy earned a place on the All-Big 12 Defensive Team for the 2011-12 season and was known for scoring, rebounding and blocking shots near the basket. Baylor coach Scott Drew led Quincy Acy throughout his four seasons with the Bears, creating the possibility that Drew could coach another generation of the family.
Before taking that role, Drew was an assistant at Valparaiso under his father, Hall of Fame coach Homer Drew. It is not known whether that family connection will affect Bear Acy's choice.
