Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is set to sit out the team’s game against Louisiana Tech as he continues recovering from an ankle injury. A report from Pete Nakos of On3 Sports says the junior is “on track to return” for Baylor’s Sept. 26 Big 12 opener against Colorado and coach Deion Sanders, though it did not confirm that he will play.

Lagway was injured during Baylor’s 17-16 season-opening loss to Auburn. Sources previously told On3 Sports that he suffered a high-ankle sprain, while coach Dave Aranda described him as day-to-day earlier in the week.

He also missed Baylor’s next game, a 44-3 win over Prairie View. The Bears are scheduled to play Louisiana Tech before beginning conference play against Colorado. ClutchPoints reported that the timing of Lagway’s return remains uncertain beyond the indication that he is progressing toward the Colorado matchup.
