Texas defensive lineman Hero Kanu was selected as a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, the National Football Foundation announced Sept. 23. The award honors a scholarship athlete based on academic achievement, on-field performance and leadership.
The Longhorns have placed a player among the award’s finalists in each of the last two seasons. Linebacker Trey Moore was a finalist in 2025, after center Jake Majors reached that stage in 2024.
Texas has produced two Campbell Trophy winners. Center Dallas Griffin received the award in 2007, and defensive end Sam Acho followed in 2010. The National Football Foundation did not provide additional details about Kanu’s selection.
