Dalton Schultz could have an expanded role for Houston when the Texans face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. That possibility depends in part on the availability of wide receiver Nico Collins, who sustained a hamstring injury during Wednesday's practice, according to a report from SI.com citing ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Houston does not believe Collins' injury is serious, but his status for the game remains uncertain. The team may take a cautious approach because Collins previously missed time with a Grade 2 hamstring strain in 2024 that resulted in a stint on injured reserve. If Collins is unavailable, the Texans' distribution of receiving opportunities could change.
Schultz led Houston in receptions in 2025, finishing with 82 catches for 777 yards. His potential to take on more work was also evident last season when Collins was unable to continue in a Week 7 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. Schultz was targeted 10 times in that game and recorded nine receptions for 98 yards.
The report did not include a final determination on Collins' status for the Cincinnati matchup.
