The Texas Rangers lost 5-2 to the Athletics on Sunday at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento, California. The home team’s offense exploded for four home runs, overwhelming the Rangers' pitching staff despite a solid effort from Jacob Lopez.

The Athletics took an early lead in the second inning when Burger hit a home run to right center for 396 feet. The score remained 1-0 until Butler hit a two-run home run to right for 394 feet, allowing White to score and extending the Athletics' lead to 2-0. The Rangers responded in the third inning when Burger grounded into a fielder's choice to shortstop.

This play allowed Langford to score while Nimmo was out at second, tying the game at 2-2.

The Athletics retook the lead in the seventh inning. Gelof hit a two-run home run to right center for 403 feet, sending Bolte over the plate. The lead grew to 4-2. In the eighth inning, White hit a solo home run to center for 413 feet, making the final score 5-2 in favor of the home team.

Jacob Lopez earned the win for the Athletics, pitching six innings while allowing five hits and two earned runs. He also issued two walks and struck out six batters. Luis Medina picked up his fourth win of the season, pitching one inning with one hit, no earned runs, and two strikeouts.

Elvis Alvarado recorded his seventh hold, pitching two-thirds of an inning with one hit, no earned runs, and one strikeout. Drew Rom recorded his second hold, pitching one-third of an inning with no hits, no earned runs, and one strikeout. Cody Bradford took the loss for the Rangers, pitching four innings while allowing eight hits and two earned runs. He issued one walk and struck out four batters. Chase Silseth pitched one inning with no hits, no earned runs, one walk, and no strikeouts.

Tyler Alexander pitched one inning with no hits, no earned runs, one walk, and no strikeouts. Jakob Junis took the loss, pitching one inning while allowing two hits and two earned runs. He issued no walks and struck out one batter.

Peyton Gray pitched one-third of an inning, allowing three hits and one earned run. He issued no walks and struck out no batters. Cole Winn pitched two-thirds of an inning with no hits, no earned runs, no walks, and no strikeouts.

The final score was Athletics 5, Texas Rangers 2. The Athletics improved to 49-75, while the Texas Rangers fell to 61-64. Attendance at the game was 7,343.
