Allen High School retained its position at the top of the Class 6A area rankings following a victory against Prosper Rock Hill during the week ending Sept. 23. The team, currently ranked sixth nationally, prepares for a critical matchup Friday when it hosts McKinney Boyd. McKinney Boyd sits at No. 3 in the Dallas area and No. 41 globally.
These two schools are scheduled to meet twice this season, with both contests expected to determine the District 6-6A champion. McKinney Boyd moved up one spot in the rankings after defeating Prosper Walnut Grove and Prosper. The team has won ten consecutive matches, fueled by 253 kills from Trinity Johnson, 610 digs from Ashley Ruschill, and 916 combined assists from Melanie Reding and Gabby Fiori.
Hebron maintained its No. 2 ranking in the area after sweeping Lewisville and Denton Guyer in three sets each. The team has secured fifteen straight wins, led by Kate McGough’s 345 kills, Kamryn Mullican’s 830 assists, and Zoe Miller’s 402 assists.
Trophy Club Byron Nelson, ranked fourth in the area and fourteenth nationally, split its recent games. The back-to-back state champions defeated Justin Northwest on Friday but lost to Southlake Carroll in four sets on Tuesday. Both matches were played without Sophee Peterson, who holds titles as Gatorade and MaxPreps national player of the year.
Duncanville leads District 11-6A with a perfect 5-0 record while holding the No. 15 national ranking. The team faces Waxahachie, also 5-0 in district play, next Tuesday. Sophomore Peyton Smith has recorded 420 kills this season, averaging six per set, while Alina Pinter leads the defense with 426 digs.
Plano East entered the rankings at No. 9 after defeating Plano in four sets on Tuesday. The victory ties Plano East with Plano and Plano West for first place in District 7-6A. Southlake Carroll joined the rankings at No. 10 following wins over Keller and Byron Nelson, placing them tied for first in District 4-6A.
