Former TCU safety Jacob Fields has been charged with aggravated assault by the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office. The charge, filed on September 23, stems from an incident that occurred in a locker room on August 13, where Fields is accused of causing serious bodily injury to TCU wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma.
The complaint alleges that Fields struck Ezukanma in the head and may have kicked him while he was on the ground. As a result of the altercation, Ezukanma suffered a concussion and was hospitalized for three days due to a brain bleed. Witnesses reported that Fields hit Ezukanma from behind, leading to his loss of consciousness.
After the incident, Fields surrendered to authorities on August 30. He was dismissed from the TCU football team on August 18. Following the altercation, Fields sent a text message to Ezukanma to apologize for his actions, which reportedly arose from Fields' frustration over his practice performance.
His agent, Philip Miller, released a statement emphasizing the importance of self-defense, but further details about the incident have not been disclosed.
