The Houston Texans are 0-2 entering Week 3, and their receiving group could again have to work without Nico Collins against the Indianapolis Colts. Collins missed Houston’s loss to Cincinnati, when no Texans wide receiver recorded more than three catches or 40 yards.
Collins was not present during the media-access portion of Wednesday’s practice, marking his third consecutive missed session. He sustained a Grade 1 hamstring strain before Houston’s Week 2 game. His availability for the Colts matchup remains unclear, and he could instead return in Week 4 against the Dallas Cowboys, according to the source.
Dalton Schultz led the Texans’ passing production against the Bengals with 12 receptions for 140 yards. Xavier Hutchinson, Kayshon Boutte and Jaylin Noel combined for seven catches. If Collins is unavailable again, those three receivers would be expected to take on larger roles, while offensive coordinator Nick Caley would prepare for another game without the team’s top wideout.
Tight end Schultz, offensive linemen Trent Brown and Ed Ingram, and edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney also were not seen during the portion of practice open to reporters. No further details about their statuses were provided.
