Duran delivers in 5-4 finish
Duran drove in four runs, and the Texas Rangers beat the San Francisco Giants 5-4 on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
Duran had run-scoring hits in the first, eighth and ninth innings. His ground-rule double in the bottom of the ninth scored Burger and put Texas back in front after San Francisco had tied the game in the top half.
Texas builds the first lead
The Rangers took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Nimmo doubled to right, scoring Pederson and moving Seager to third. Duran followed with a single to right that scored Seager and sent Nimmo to third.
MacKenzie Gore gave Texas six innings, allowing three hits and no earned runs with three walks and four strikeouts. Blade Tidwell worked five innings for San Francisco and allowed six hits, two earned runs and one walk with three strikeouts.
Giants answer, Rangers respond
San Francisco pulled even in the top of the seventh on the game’s only home run. Basabe homered to left, a 377-foot drive that scored Gilbert and made it 2-2.
Texas moved back ahead in the bottom of the eighth. Duran doubled to right, scoring Langford and Seager, with Nimmo advancing to third, for a 4-2 Rangers lead.
The Giants tied it again in the top of the ninth. Eldridge singled to right, bringing in Gilbert and McCray to make it 4-4. In the bottom of the inning, Duran’s ground-rule double scored Burger, with Seager moving to third, for the final run.
Pitching and records
Chase Silseth allowed one hit and two earned runs over two-thirds of an inning for Texas, with one walk and no strikeouts. Robby Ahlstrom pitched one inning with no hits, no earned runs, no walks and two strikeouts, and Peyton Gray had one-third of an inning with no hits, no earned runs, no walks and one strikeout. Jacob Latz got the win, improving to 3-1, after one inning with two hits, one earned run, one walk and one strikeout.
Dylan Smith took the loss for San Francisco, falling to 0-4, after two-thirds of an inning with two hits, one earned run, one walk and one strikeout. Attendance was 26,959. Texas is 56-58, and San Francisco is 48-66.
