Allen High School football has started the 2026 season with a 4-0 record, overcoming a challenging schedule that included No. 2-ranked Anna, Duncanville, DeSoto, and Southlake Carroll. The Eagles defeated these opponents by a combined score of 183-69, averaging a 28.5-point margin of victory.
Only Duncanville kept the game close into the fourth quarter, while Allen’s offense scored at least 50 points in the three subsequent games. This performance is notable given that the team graduated 40 seniors and had no more than four returning starters on either side of the ball entering the season.
With the initial stretch of high-level competition behind them, Allen’s upcoming schedule features opponents where the Eagles are heavily favored. The team is described as young and inexperienced, with potential for further improvement as the season progresses. Their next game is against Prosper in District 6-6A play at Children's Health Stadium.
In Class 7A, Plano ISD teams went 2-1 in their first week of district play. Plano West defeated Richardson 52-20, while Plano beat Richardson Pearce 21-9 after a strong second half. Lake Highlands defeated Plano East 21-14, scoring the go-ahead points in the final two minutes of the game. Through four games, Plano East and Plano West are both 2-2, while Plano is 1-3.
Plano East had a strong start with a 2-0 record, including a 48-point performance against Prosper Rock Hill. However, the Panthers have since struggled, averaging 13.5 points in losses to South Grand Prairie and Lake Highlands.
