Kevin Jennings, the quarterback for the SMU Mustangs, is recovering from a finger injury and is anticipated to participate in the season opener against the Florida State Seminoles. The injury occurred earlier this month when he jammed his finger in a locker room door during fall camp.
Head coach Rhett Lashlee has expressed optimism regarding Jennings' recovery. He stated that Jennings has resumed throwing and is not experiencing any pain. Lashlee mentioned that Jennings will have a complete two weeks to prepare for the game, with the goal of him being fully ready by kickoff.
Lashlee provided an update on Jennings, saying that the situation is progressing positively and that they are reintegrating him into practice this week.
Jennings' return is crucial for SMU's performance this season, as he achieved impressive statistics last year, including 3,641 passing yards and 26 touchdowns, while also leading the ACC with 13 interceptions, indicating areas for improvement as he gears up for the new season.
