The Houston Texans have made significant roster improvements during training camp, including the signing of former No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney and defensive lineman Mario Edwards. However, the team has not focused on upgrading its wide receiver corps, choosing to depend on younger talent already present on the roster.

With the regular season on the horizon, the Texans' opportunities to secure a notable wide receiver appear to be diminishing. Key free agents like Deebo Samuel, Stefon Diggs, and Keenan Allen have joined other teams, leaving Houston with fewer viable options.

Tyreek Hill remains a free agent, but concerns about his recovery from a torn ACL injury make his addition unlikely. Other available receivers, such as Curtis Samuel, Brandin Cooks, Tyler Lockett, and DeAndre Hopkins, may not provide a significant boost to the Texans' depth chart.

The Texans are likely to stick with their current wide receiver lineup, featuring players like Nico Collins as a potential WR1 and Jayden Higgins as a possible WR2. Contributions are also expected from Jaylin Noel, Xavier Hutchinson, and a healthy Tank Dell.

Despite the lack of major signings, the Texans' front office seems confident in their existing group, maintaining over $20 million in cap space for future moves if needed. However, the chances of adding another impactful wide receiver before the season starts remain low.
