Cade Cavalli delivered a masterful outing for the Washington Nationals, striking out 11 batters over six innings to lead his team to a 6-0 victory against the Texas Rangers. Cavalli (11-5) allowed just three hits and one walk while keeping the home crowd at Globe Life Field silent.

His performance marked his second consecutive game with double-digit strikeouts, anchoring a complete shutout effort by the visiting club.

The Nationals' bullpen maintained the scoreless streak with precision relief work. Will Dion pitched a perfect inning, retiring the side in order without allowing a hit or walk while recording one strikeout. Max Kranick followed, working one inning and allowing a single hit but no runs or walks.

Jake Bird closed out the game with a scoreless eighth inning, striking out the final batter he faced.

Offensive Breakthroughs

Washington built its lead through timely hitting in the middle innings. The first run came in the third inning when Tena homered to center field, a 415-foot shot that gave the Nationals an early 1-0 advantage.

The score doubled in the fourth inning as Ruiz singled to right field, bringing Chaparro home from second base for a 2-0 lead. Washington added another run in the sixth inning when Vivas grounded out to the pitcher, allowing Chaparro to score from third base and extend the margin to 3-0.

The game was effectively sealed in the seventh inning. Chaporro launched a 397-foot home run to left field, driving in two more runs as Ortiz and Tena crossed the plate. This three-run blast pushed the final tally to 6-0, eliminating any remaining hope for a Rangers comeback.

Rangers Struggle to Find Rhythm

Texas starter Kumar Rocker (4-10) struggled to contain the Nationals' offense. He pitched five innings, allowing six hits and two earned runs while striking out three batters. The damage continued in the sixth inning with Cole Winn, who gave up two hits and one earned run over his single inning of work.

Peyton Gray entered in the seventh and faced a tough frame, surrendering one hit, three earned runs, and two walks before being relieved. Jordan Montgomery pitched the final two innings for Texas, allowing one hit and no earned runs while striking out two batters, but the damage had already been done.

Final Results

The Nationals improved their record to 61-67 with the win, while the Rangers fell to 62-65. The game was played on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, with an attendance of 23,963 spectators.
