Standout Pitching Display
Cade Cavalli delivered a masterful outing for the Washington Nationals, striking out 11 batters over six innings to lead his team to a 6-0 victory against the Texas Rangers. Cavalli (11-5) allowed just three hits and one walk while keeping the home crowd at Globe Life Field silent.
His performance marked his second consecutive game with double-digit strikeouts, anchoring a complete shutout effort by the visiting club.
The Nationals' bullpen maintained the scoreless streak with precision relief work. Will Dion pitched a perfect inning, retiring the side in order without allowing a hit or walk while recording one strikeout. Max Kranick followed, working one inning and allowing a single hit but no runs or walks.
Jake Bird closed out the game with a scoreless eighth inning, striking out the final batter he faced.
Offensive Breakthroughs
Washington built its lead through timely hitting in the middle innings. The first run came in the third inning when Tena homered to center field, a 415-foot shot that gave the Nationals an early 1-0 advantage.
The score doubled in the fourth inning as Ruiz singled to right field, bringing Chaparro home from second base for a 2-0 lead. Washington added another run in the sixth inning when Vivas grounded out to the pitcher, allowing Chaparro to score from third base and extend the margin to 3-0.
